Shoot Your Age or Hole-In-One?

    Hey fellas, just a quick post for the weekend to enjoy before we all celebrate a great family gathering of Thanksgiving.

    Anyway, have you ever had a hole in one ... how about a chance or close to shoot your age? In any case the real question in this post is, "Would you rather have a Hole-In-One or Shoot-Your-Age or just a career round?" ...and please tell us why.

    A friend and I had a conversation about it and at the end it was unsettled but we had a good time discussing it over... some chuckle, and some sincere responses. So it prompted me to ask what the Team Titleist thoughts were on this.

    Basically, I told him that I would rather shoot my age than a hole in one. He then responded by saying, of course, "no way", because he's never had a hole in one but has shot many low rounds. So I told him what he already knew that I've had two hole in ones but I have never come close to shooting my age. The two times I've shot my lowest ever were the rounds I've never stopped thinking about more than the two hole in ones I've had. He follows it up by saying, "It would be the best day of my life if he would be granted a hole in one."

    What do you think? ...and please tell us why?

    I have not done either. Will be 68 in a couple of weeks so I think shooting my age would be pretty spectacular for me. Shooting your age means you had a great all around round. IMHO.... A hole in one is a combination of luck and skill. You could card your worst score and have a hole in one.

    I would love a hole in 1. The closest I've come was about 4 inches away after it pitched and spun back. I'm only 34 so shooting my age would be a miracle (maybe 34 front and back would be awsome) but I think it sounds better if you say I got a hole in 1

    That's a tough one. I've never had a hole in one but shooting my age (or close to it) is very compelling. As bad as I'm playing right now, having the skill level to even think about shooting anywhere close to my age (60) would have to be my choice. I think I could live without a hole in one but if I don't get any better I could start loosing interest. For now I'll keep plugging and hope things turn around.

    I've has three hole in 1's,As exciting as they were (the last one was a doozy, but I won't get into the particulars here) I'd much rather shoot my age.I've shot 68 twice, the last of which was quite some time ago. I'm 65 now and believe it's still possible to shoot my age.

    It will be many years before I can shoot my age. But I have many years left to make a hole in one. So based on that I would say a hole in one would be & is my goal of achievement. I'm only 58 & I don't shoot any rounds below PAR so not thinking of shoot my age anytime soon. My closest to a hole in one is 14", my closest to my age is 74.

    Not to take anything away from those who have scored legitimate aces, but in reality, a hole in one is not always the result of playing great golf. I know plenty of guys who can barely break 100, who have aces under their belts. So for me, I think scoring your age or better when you are in your 60s or 70s...or even 80s and 90s, is no fluke. You have to play your best to achieve that score. That is a true accomplishment. And what I would opt for given the choice between ace or age.

    BTW, I'm now in my 60s (yikes!) with a fairly respectable game. (4.7 index.) I normally play 150-200 days a year and have been for many years. HOWEVER, I am STILL waiting for my first ace. I've been soooo close so many times (withing a couple inches), but just haven't gotten one to actually drop. I've even hit the pin about two inches above the ground once. After the ricochet off the green, I made bogey! C'mon. I've gotta be due. In the meantime, I'll just keep trying to shoot my age, but I might have a better chance in about 10 years.

    That is an easy one for me. Shoot my age. I have had four hole in ones. Right after my 68th birthday, I shot a 69 and double boogied the last hole. The pressure got to me. As I get older guess it might get easier. My goal is to live to the same age as my maternal grandfather who lived to be 98 and shoot at 98 on that birthday. Glad to be back on the forum. Just got back from St Maarten, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua and St Kitts. A wonderous way to spend our 44th anniversary. Ready to hit the links on Wednesday and Friday. Fore...........................

    I think shooting your age displays that you have kept your game in shape for a long time and is a feat that requires 18 holes well played.

    But I have 5 aces and an albatross so I'm biased.

    I believe shooting your age would be more rewarding since it involves more skill than luck IMO. I'm still waiting for HIO luck to find me...I've gotten within a couple of inches of a HIO and I'm not even close to shooting my age. God willing I'm able to golf in my sunset years because that will be my only chance at shooting my age...forward tees here I come!

    I have had two hole-in-ones and both were exciting to get. But I am almost 63 and shooting a round at my age would say that was a perfect game.

    Had 3 holes in one, shot my age for 9 holes if that counts?? I’m 41 now so it would be some round to shoot my age for 18 holes #teamtitleist

    I get a chance every once in a while to play with a gentleman that is 90 years old. Not long off the tee but hits center of club face everytime. Straight down the middle. Usually shoots his age or there abouts every time out. In very good shape physically and mentally.

    I think that is amazing. Having a couple of hole in ones, and only 60, my eventual goal is to shoot my age. Just like the title of an Arnold Palmer book, in this man's humble opinion, that is proof of "A life well played"

    I'll take SHOOT MY AGE as 63 would be quite a round. Lucky to have two holes in one over prior four years.
