My goal this year is to break 80 for the first time. I am new to the game but have become obsessed with getting better and like the direction I'm headed. I'm not a "big-hitter" but have been dialed lately with the wedges and once I get the GIR stats up I should be able to get the job done.

My golf goals are pretty simple in 2023:

    1. Play more and play with purpose. My son was born in the summer of 2022, and I’ve only played a handful of times since then. I know I’ll never have as much time as I used to, but my goal is to be more purposeful in the time I do have.

    2. Introduce the game to my son in a positive manner. Like many amateurs, I often get frustrated easily with myself because I’m not always setting realistic expectations. I want to ensure my son sees the game as something positive and fun, not as a source of his dad’s frustration.

    3. Learn to hit my driver with more consistency. (I think my new Titleist TSR3 driver will probably help with that).
  3. My goal is to become a better putter. I drive the ball okay, but i feel like I could gain a lot of strokes on the green.
  4. Consecutive rounds under 90

I set the following goals for 2023:

    1. Intentional practice/range time at least 1x per week.

    2. Break into the 70's consistently.

    3. Lose the dreaded 15-20 I've picked up since the pandemic!
  6. Reduce handicap back down to 4. Stop chasing the W's and just enjoy it

I’d say for me my goal is to regain my consistency. I just got back into playing again after probably about a 10 year break. I used to play tournaments and score mid to high 70’s. I have recently started playing the game again and fell in love with it all over again, but I have noticed my consistency has left the chat and I got to find it again.

Goals are so important to giving a direction for the year. Here are mine:
    Walk 50%+ of rounds
    Play 10 new courses
    Practice an hour each week
Improve Iron Play (GIR 50 in comp)
    Break Par
Join PGA (not the tour, let's be reasonable :-D )

My home course has a city amateur with a handicap flight and a championship flight. The champ has a 5.4 or better handicap and I want to meet that goal by next year. It’s in a few weeks and I’m not going to get there with my 7 but hopefully next year I can play.
  10. Break 100.

At 61 to maintain my single digit index as long as I a can (5.9 today) and stay competitive in senior scratch events. Work on my short game because I believe that is the key to keeping that single digit index.

Also accept the fact the playing the back tees is in the past... 6100-6300 seems to be the right yardage for me now.

More consistency with the long irons/hybrids, putt better and work on my short game. Play as much golf as I'm able to, play new courses and enjoy being on the course having fun instead of stressing every shot, every score and every hole.

This is an old thread, but I feel like I need some accountability so I'm going to put my goals out there for this year.

    1. get my handicap down from a 7.2 to a 2.0, lower if possible, I'm working towards scratch.
    2. Finish in the top 5 at my club championship.
    3. Build my swing speed to a baseline of 100 mph (currently averaging 96 mph).
    4. Lose 20 lbs, going from 273 to 253.

All lofty goals, but I think I can get there.

    Best of luck to everyone!
  14. My goal is to get from 12.7 to 10, is going to take a lot of work but i am confident i can get there

That's a good realistic goal. If I can make a small suggestion, change your goal to 9.9. It's only one tenth of a stroke, but there is very special feeling the first time you reach "single digits" on your handicap... really something to shoot for. Good luck!

So far so good. Have been working with my Physical Therapist and about to finish that up. Will be joining the Senior Center where they have a lot of great weight machines where I can continue my development. Graduated from the PGAHope clinics which was refresher golf lessons at the course where I play. Have been working with my PGA teacher and played my fifth round of golf since December 9th. Think all the preparation might be kicking in. First round back was a smooth 101, second 100, third 99, fourth 98 and today 88. Did not making a comeback would be so tough. Ball striking was much better today, but putting was not as expected. 39 putts. Greens not in the best of shape. Rather slow and very unpredictable. I can appreciate all the help my team has provided me and look forward to green pastures. Oh, the pain, very mild. Hakuna matata. So glad to be meeting many of my goals this year.

One of my biggest goals this year is to incorporate a daily stretching routine.

Mine are to be disciplined with the work from what I’ve been taught:
    1. I would like to have maintenance time in between rounds, even if it’s just 30 balls. Putts and chips a half hour each a day.
    2. Identify my weak points and balance or allow proper time between all maintenance work.
    3. To maintain and be healthy.
    4. Reward myself and tee up a new ball (ProV1) on each 1st tee.
  19. Military
Complete my bag with all titleist is #1. Then I would like to break 85.
