What’s your preferred time of day to play golf and why? Mine is in the evening, I just enjoy golf and a setting sun.

I'll usually play in the early morning. I have a standing tee time on the weekends with a group and we get around the course in 3hrs 40mins. It can be chilly in the winter and some Hot Hands warmers will help. In the summer, it's imperative to get out in the early morning because we'll easily hit triple digits in the afternoon.

When the days are longer, I'll squeeze 9 holes after work.

I too prefer afternoons but anytime on the golf course is better than not being there. The one downside to afternoons is dealing with ball marks on greens and bunkers not raked. Sad that it keeps happening. Seems like the years of COVID rules made people lazy.

That one is easy to answer. For me the best time is anywhere between sun up and sun down.

Dew sweeping... Fast pace of play, avoid traffic (to and from) and can enjoy rest of the day!

Lately, whenever the course isn't crowded. If I could choose, IO prefer late morning/early afternoon.

I enjoy the afternoon rounds. I’m more of a slow twitch type of person where it takes me a minute to get going, rather than the fast twitch type where they can go from 0-100 right out of the gate.

Early morning rounds I struggle to find the flow and don’t get going by hole 10. It kills my round. My goal this year is to be better in the early morning rounds like I am in the afternoon. When I’m apart of the early morning Saturday crew I get up 3 hours before the tee time to get the blood flowing and mind firing. Lately I’ve been getting to the course 1.5 hours before tee off. Chip a bag of range balls, hit a couple of irons, 3 wood, and driver on the range. Finished by 30 minutes of putting.

Mornings can be enjoyable. The air is just different in the morning. It’s quiet and peaceful. But that stretch of the last couple of holes at sunset is magical!

Being retired, I like to start around 8:30-9:30 am. Weekdays only. I give the weekends to the working folks.
  10. I prefer to play right after lunch, then I’m able to head to dinner after the round.
  11. Yeah I love the golden hour. Twilight golf is something special.
  12. Earlier the better! Dew sweeping is the best. I have been out in the summer in the 5am hour and it just the best

When I retired in 2011 at the age of 65, signed up the The Rascals, senior men's league at Charleston Muni. We have 8 guaranteed tee times starting at 8am every Monday/Wednesday/Friday. We utilitze the GHIN system to sign up seven days in advance. Works out nicely. Most of the tee times after 10am are taken by those visiting our lovely city. Since golf.com ranked our course #19 in the top 50 municipals courses, tee times are a premium. They have to go online to get a time, no phone tee times accepted. The earliest we can tee off is 7am. The crews have to have time to prepare the course.

Boy my memory is getting bad and frozen. Golfgenius is the program we use to sign up to play. GHIN is handicapping. Right now we are playing much, the temperatures are in the low thirties. That is artic temperatures for us guys along the southern coasts, especially when then wind is blowing off the Atlantic.

    "First Out"....

    or as close as possible.

You, the Morning Sun and Dew....Nothing better.

No Slow play at this time.....course rule. (Many courses have set limits on who can play at this time to keep the pace moving.)

I am usually the first off at 6 am in the summer time. I am a middle school teacher so I enjoy the peace and quiet of the early morning.

Early morning (7:00ish) for pace of play. I seem to play better and get into a rhythm.
