  1. Thrilled that I was chosen to white box test.

Hats off to Titleist yet again. Still the best ball in golf and only gets better.

My gamer is a prov1 and it did not disappoint. Both balls performed exactly as expected. 388 had lower than previous generation driver spin which is sensational considering there was no compromise on iron or wedge spin. Feel is sensational. Distance is on par for me from previous model ( which is always fantastic) green side spin and control was perfect and the feel somehow feels better than previous model. All in all a great improvement on the perfect golf ball.

My real surprise came with the 348. It performed beautifully super high spin around the green and with the irons. Hitting about 6200rpm vs 5300 with the 388 on a 7i. Dead stop darts from 180 yards away. Wedge control is unmatched as expected. Driver spin for me on the ProV1x is typically too high for my swing however to my shock I was only getting about 400 rpm more on average to the 388. Which is a game changer for me. Now the part that really shocked me is the FEEL. I've always preferred the ProV1 feel by a long shot and the 348 felt incredible. I'm obsessed with hitting it.

I'll need to put it more testing but I'm strongly considering switching to the ProV1x or at the very minimum rotating through depending on the course I'm playing. It harnesses all the traditional control and spin characteristics that make it legendary but closes the gap for my preferences on the ProV1 (feel and driver spin)

Amazing lineup. Very excited. Thanks Titleist!

I had a positive experience with each of the prototypes sent. They felt the same off the club face and both ball flights were consistent with my experience of previous years ProV1 and ProV1x balls. Unfortunately, the weather had a significant change in temp so it wasn’t a true comparison in my opinion as I have played all summer with good weather. Either way, I am very appreciative and honored to have been able to review these prototype balls. I hope to be selected to test a new driver soon.

We liked 348 better. Softer around the greens and ball flight was not as high flying. Both had similar distance to prov1.
  4. Always a fan of the Titleist ball from the Balata back in HS to the Professional and Tour Prestige. Wasn’t buying the hype of the Pro V when launched in early 2000…. Found one. Teed it up and found unbelievable gained yards off the tee….SOLD. The new protos continue to impress with distance, feel and control around the greens
    Keep up the good work!

I tested both the Pro V1 and ProV1x. Both are excellent in feel, distance and spin. The Pro V1 was more accurate off the tee but not by much. The Pro V1x had slightly more spin so it was not as straight. Mid irons and around the green both performed great. I could not tell the difference. The difference was the distance off the tee. I was 10 yards farther with the Pro V1x. I am definitely going with the new Pro V1x. If there was a doubt that these are the best balls in the game that doubt has been removed.
  6. I enjoyed comparing the balls to my TP5. I noticed the spin is real nice and the balls seem to have "bite" on the greens with wedges. Played 9 holes with the 348 and overall it was nice. Solid tee to green.

I was very happy to receive these and be a "tester". I tried the 388 and 348 protos. I went to my local pro who is also my cousin , and got fit into the 348 on trackman. I was happy with my results with the 348. It felt better to me than last years prov1. Thanks again for including me. CHEERS
  8. Today I tried out the new proto 388 and 348. Both preformed very well. When I compared them to last years balls, I felt the new models performed slightly better. Can't wait for them to come into full production.
  9. I spent time hitting both balls with an 8i and my driver into my net and tracking them with my Mevo. The stats showed the red prototype to be hotter than the black for my 8 iron by 6 yards and 2 mph (108 vs. 106) and about 400 rpm less spinny. With the driver, the black was hotter than the red by 2 mph (148 vs 146), and the black was spinnier by 300 rpm. I found the sound of the black to be better as well. The red seemed higher pitched and louder. In general feel, I prefer the black number to the red number ball. It was firm, but not too firm. The red was a touch harder than I like. Around and on the greens I found them to be quite similar in terms of feel and spin. I really like how they felt coming off of my putter. It was a true feeling and roll every time. I played both balls on the course and again, I liked the black better there. While both balls flew in a lower, preferable, more piercing trajectory than my usual flight (I've been known to reach the flight path height of small aircraft with my irons) the black ball flight fit my eye better. Additionally, both balls seemed to either impart less side spin or the dimple pattern helped reduce the side movement, especially on balls I faded. In particular, on one drive I hit I knew it should fade pretty hard based on the feel of the shot. It probably should have faded 20 yards or so, and I watched it start to fade and then sort of straighten out to where it only faded about 8-10 yards. That was wild to see. I am very happy that I received the balls and it definitely makes me want to get some Pro V1s next year when they come out. The trajectory and straightness could save a few strokes compared to the balls I use today.
  10. Greetings from Arizona! Thank you for the sleeve of red prov1x 348 and black prov1 388 balls. I do my testing on my Mevo+. I typically play the x or velocity ball for distance. With the 2022 x and velocity, my driver distance is usually 265.

With the new proto 2023 balls, the x came in at 271 and the v at 273. 8 yards is 8 yards and I will be moving to the 2023 Pro v 1 in the future. I've always preferred the feel of the Pro v over the X, but now with even more distance from the Pro v, there is no real reason to stay with the x. Even my spin numbers were a bit better with the Pro v over the x, so again, this testing convinced me to move from the x to the pro v1. I also like the slightly lower launch window with the new Pro v1. Thank you for allowing me to test these, I will buy several dozen as soon as they are out. Any news on a new release of the 620 MB's? My next irons will be those or the T-100's if they come out in black. Thanks again!

  11. Thanks for sending the samples. I thought the 388 worked well for me with the woods. Felt like the ball would fly a tad lower than previous model and penetrate more into the wind which is great. But, I tended to get a lot of spin with the irons. (Note it's been windy last few times I played). The 348 felt very similar to the ProV1X I tend to hit a high ball with lots of spin. So, the new ball played well for me since it seemed to spin less and not launch as high. Also felt like I may have picked up a few more yards with the 348 which is nice. Both models felt soft coming off the putter face. Will have to play a few more rounds for comparison but so far the 348 feels like a winner.

What a treat to try both sleeves of balls. I’ve always loved the Pro V1X and expected it to perform the same or better than previous years. To my surprise this ball went farther than 2020 ball. It has a better sound at impact and the checking on the greens was better too. Regarding the other ball I really didn’t see any change in spin, flight and feel were the same as previous years ball.

Preferred 388 v 348. 388 had a much better feel off the tee and around the greens. 348 had a harder sense to contact and I didn’t like the response with my short game.

Love the 388 ball flight with my TSi2 (3W) was a thing of beauty. Much better feel around the greens.
348 had a much harder feel in my opinion didn’t care for it at all

HI Love I was part of the ball testing, and it was great experience trying the 348 and 388 Proto balls. I try both balls and love both of them. But I had to pick one I will take the 348 Proto over the 388 Proto slightly. The difference to me was around the greens and putting. I actually score better with the 348. Thanks Team Titleist

I played 3 rounds with the white box golf balls. I felt (that for my game) the proV1 was a better fit. I liked the height and distance of the shots a little better than the 1x. I appreciate the chance to give them a test.

I thought the 348 was longer with my TSi2 driver and launched higher than the 388. Fell was comparable and no noticeable difference around or on the green. I also believe both were superior to the last year models. Hard to believe Titleist could improve on an already superior product but that’s what makes it the MOST played ball on the planet. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to test the greatest ball in golf!
  18. Good distance and feel off the tee with both balls. True roll and soft feel off the putter. Great ball for me.

Really enjoyed playing both models!! The only differences I noticed was they were more durable and just a little longer. Other than that, no difference!! Thanks for letting me try out the new Provs!
  20. I have enjoyed testing both prototypes. The 388 had a lower flight off my driver, giving me slightly more distance with the 348 . The 388 felt slightly softer around the greens with good spin off my wedges. Overall I would put the 348 in play.
