Played the 348 Protos, aka Prov1x today. Loved the way it popped off the driver and my irons. Nice distance and the way it stayed on line. Around the green with my chipping, a real champ. Pretty much tap in putts. The ball seemed to hold the greens real well, with long and short irons. We played into some winds today the ball bored right into it. The ball down wind did not seem to carry like I expected. Came up short. Am going to play with it the rest of the week and will break out the Prov1 next week. Took some getting use to with putter. It did jump off the face a bit. Had four three putts and one four putt. The greens we played today were not fast, inconsistent and it took a while to get a feel for the ball. Once the feel came around the putting improved. Why I need the rest of the week with the ball. Back to fast greens on Wednesday. So far good results.

Day two. 46* and windy when we teed off at 845am. Prov1x, again held up very well in the wind, held line so well and accuracy scary. Loved the distance. Could count on it with my irons. I love the spin on this ball. I am pretty much a picker and the ball holds well on our fast greens. Off the putter still performing well. Do not count on it being very pretty if you hit a cart path, it scares easily, otherwise the ball will hold up nicely for a good 18 holes +. Will play one more day then will go to the Prov1 next week for three days. =)

Day three and final test of Proto 348: Warmer weather of my test this week and time to let the big dog fly. Had three drives 240 and for some of you that is not a lot, but remember I am 76 years old. Put me on the senior tees with you and that will make me very competitive. Passed the distance for me. Around the greens is it great. Pitching whether on level areas or uphill, the ball bites well and rolls out nicely to my target. Passed that test. Rolls well on the greens. Passed. Into the greens, holds well. Passed. Only negative, if any, but I guess you should not hit a cart path. Knicks easily. Good ball. Will move on the testing the Prov1 on M, T, W, next week. Have good weekend, y'all.

Day One with the 388 Protos (Prov1s): Took some adjusting on the front nine because the ball is so darn hot. Off the irons I had to adjust at least a half club. Was flying greens and putting on the greens had to adjust to the pop. The distance off the tee was very very good. The bite with my pitches was outstanding in that I had a few today and was extremely pleased. Shot a 48 on the front and then got adjusted on the back and shot three over. The new Prov1s are longer than the previous model and must say also longer than the 348 Protos. Will be testing them again on Wednesday with most results to follow. With Prov1x left dashes almost impossible to find. This could be the ball for me going into 2023. Especially with the performance off the irons.

Day two of the test with the 388s and again theses balls just fly off the irons. I shared some of these with a couple of fellow Titleist loyalist who were not lucky enough to get some in the mail. They could not believe how far the ball travels off their irons. Said they picked up a club length with the irons. Played under windy conditions today and the ball traveled well thru the wind. My fellow competitors were amazed at how far my ball was ahead of theirs all day long off the tee and how accurate they were when struck with my irons. My game has been improving with my iron game, but it did take me a while to get use to the new yardage with the 388 Protos. Will not be playing again until Monday due to visiting my orthopedic surgeon on Friday to have my hips checked out. Right now I have to give my nod to the 388s over the 348s as far as overall performance goes. And they might even be a tad longer than the left dash. Until next week. Have a great golfing weekend. Go VOLS. =)

Day three with the 388 protos, Prov1. Had control problems with the putter today. Greens fast and the ball popped off the putter as well. After a couple of holes all was well. Again, the ball was long, bit well around the green and very consistent. My conclusion is that the 388 Proto (Prov1) outperformed the 348 (Prov1x) in every category and will be in my bag once all my left dashes are used up. Does require a soft touch with the putter on fast greens. Thanks to Titleist for the opportunity to test the balls. Sharing is caring as an Ambassador, I did pass some on to other Titleist loyalists in my group. They love the Prov1s. Kudos to R&D and the entire Titleist team. =)

Forgot to add that the 388s do not scuff as badly as the 348s. Had nit the cart paths with both. A cart path really chews up a 348.
  8. Agreed the cover did seem to mark easily on the 348 proto (ProV1x)

Love reading all of these reviews. Long time Pro V1 player and I’m really interested to see how the new version differs from the current model. Would love to test them out early but if not then I’ll grab a sleeve after they are released to do some testing.

Would love the opportunity to be able to try some of these balls. Hope they can keep the shelves stocked. I sometimes struggle to find Prov1 in stock. Love the look of the new line. Would be blessed to be able to try some.
  14. I was so lucky to receive the proto golf balls!
Both of the golf balls work very well. I love the green side spin on both of them.
  15. The only thing I would change is the existing arrow on the golf ball. I know it is on the 2023 tour players balls. It would be nice to have the same experience as the 2022 Prov’s. But the proto golf ball works great! I’m excited to be able to purchase them soon.

Expect to see the alignment arrows continued on the production ball. Just with a slight variation change so you can tell each year's model from the other.
  17. I had a lot of fun comparing the balls and am so happy they were sent to me. Loved the feel of the 388 off the clubface and putter. Did a lot of chipping and putting with both balls. Both balls were great! I prefer the 388, but honestly would play with either ball.

One hour Trackman session today confirmed the PV1x is the ball for me. The 348 Photo performed slightly better than the 2022 PV1x and both outperformed the 2022 models. Certainly on driver stats. 8 iron and wedges didn't show the variances that the driver did.

    I felt the same way
I like the 388 feel slightly better from the putter

Love to play with both balls can't go wrong

  20. 348 Proto 388 Proto

Spin Same as Pro V1 Lower off Driver
Feel " Same as Pro V1
    Distance " "
  21. Today I tried out the new proto 388, and tomorrow I will try the 348. I was very pleased with the new balls. The feel is better than last year's ProV1, and ProV1x. This ball felt softer coming off the club face, and I didn't notice any loss, or gain in distance either. This ball reacted well around the greens in both chipping and putting. This ball feels good coming off the driver face as well. I am very impressed on how Titleist continues to improve on the best ball in golf. I will try the 348 tomorrow and look forward to another great experience.
  22. I agree. Both showed improvements from prior years in feel. I didn’t see a lot of difference in distance, due to my swing speed. I’m not a high swing speed player anymore. I also play the AVX model 99% of time so kind of comparing apples to oranges, but would play either of these balls. Both performed well.
  23. I found that each ball had an increased distance from the older models. I found the red numbered ball had more spin coming into the green. Both balls appear to be a little firmer off the putter face. The wedge shots checked up quicker than the ilder models
  24. Haven't had a lot of playing time with them and have only tried the Prov and I found them a touch harder of the putter with I liked and they seemed to go straighter of my driver then last years model, but I have only used them for about 27 holes, so really hard to give much of a true assessment, and its be cold here, hopefully next week I will get more time with them and also try the Pro V+ and Thanks so much for allowing me to test them

Have played the 348 prototype for 5 rounds now. The launch window is still the high launching golf ball I’ve come to love. The driver and long game spin are low and I noticed a gain in yardage as well. The ball is super stable in the wind and generates less side spin on miss hit shots. Short game spin is what I expect but was really surprised by a softer feel. On the greens, the 348 prototype was softer feeling than the current ProV1x. I’m very excited for the launch of the new balls!!

Another fantastic addition to the ProV1 line. The ball performed just as you'd expect a ProV1 to perform. Soft feel on the greens. Great spin and stop performance with the wedge. ball flight and distance were very similar to the current ProV1 models. A ball I was immediately comfortable putting into play in place of my current ProV1. All around, a great addition to the best line of golfs ball in the game.

I appreciate the opportunity to try both balls
Noticed a small difference from previous years model. Currently play V1x but will look to switch after playing the new V1. Seemed to spin a little more around the green and on short shorts. Distance off the tee was pretty close to the same.
    thanks
    Mike O
  28. The balls where excellent, spin inside 75 yds just right long clubs low enough. Have played 36 holes with 1 ball still playable
  29. Thanks so much for the new ProV1s! My son and I both tested them. My son(20yo) 3hcp plays the X and loves the new version. Softer, similar spin and same flight window. 3-5yds longer in his opinion. I’m 50, 5hcp and play the regular version. Pretty much the same impression but for me the window is a little lower which I like. Overall we are truly impressed with the new ProV1s!
    Thanks again!!
  30. For my caliber game, the Pro V1X overall (feel, distance, short game) was better than the Pro V. When the ball comes to market I’ll purchase the V1.

I loved the new pro v 1 as I hit hit probably 20 yards farther with less spin. The pro vi 1x flew a little higher which I loved. It also had a little less feel around the green for me. Depending on what your looking for in the ball I would definitely advise you to try either one as you can’t go wrong with either ball. The new pro v is an awesome ball.

Love being part of the test group. Distance gap has been closed between the two balls. 388 is for me. Softer feel off putter and short chips, less backspin on full wedge shots, slightly lower trajectory and spin off the driver. All good for my game!

Great balls as always from Titleist, feel, distance, and spin seem to be very close to last years models. I primarily play vice pro plus and for half the money of the proV models its hard to regularly play the proV..I do use them in tournaments but very little difference between the two balls
