I received the 348 and 388 balls a little over a week ago and I played two rounds with both of them. I did a lot of putting and chipping also. I prefer the 388’s softer feel off of the putter. The 348 was a little clicky for me. They both performed well with the driver and I noticed the 348 has less spin off the driver and long irons. I gained some distance with the 388 off of the tee. The 388 had a little lower launch window for me which I prefer. The wind didn’t seem to affect either ball much. The 388 is the one I would choose but the 348 is right there.

Both 348/388 feel about the same; firm, not soft or hard, spin is great not to much, carry off tee is very good. What I was most impressed with is the dispersion off the tee even on mishit shots the ball didn't stray far off line. Titleist makes great products!
  3. Another great ball from Titleist. Great distance and solid feel with the wedges.
Thanks for the opportunity to test!

This is my second time doing this and I thoroughly enjoyed these events. Got the AvX demos on Christmas Eve and played 54 holes with each. I was impressed and happy with it. Length, good feel, and durability. Only problem was I haven't used up the leftovers from last year and have not been able to use the new ones. As soon as I got the current one I did the same for these. I have felt better with these. It has the same durability and better spin. Love the short game feel both chipping and putting. I think they both are longer. the 88 are lower. Spin is good on both and almost even on what I like the best. The Interesting finding is that several days before I got them I spent an hour with a Titleist rep with the best evaluation ever and he had suggested I change to one of the ProVs because of what he saw. I have played titleists since 1960s and these are the best balls I have ever played with. Can't wait to play the other 4 balls. Will help me decide between Prov1 and prov1x next year. Thank you Titleist for this opportunity.
  5. The new versions feel nice around the greens and off of the putter. I prefer the Pro V1 version over the V1x. I found the shot dispersion to be a little tighter. Either ball is a great choice for play.

I had a lots of fun testing the balls. I am not consistent enough to be much help but I found both balls to compare favorably to the current models. I felt the 388 was a little longer and the 348 had more spin. Thanks for letting me participate.

Hoping my name pops up in the testing queue. I have tested in the past but probably 7-8 years ago. I'm checking my mailbox daily.
  8. As expected Ted top notch performance. Great feel wouldn’t necessarily say “softer” but just has good feel around greens. Consistent ball flight and spin rate. AWESOME! Thank you Titleist

Thank you for allowing me to test out the new golf balls. I did notice off the tee and with my irons the 348 ball was a little longer. The 388 felt too soft with the putter but was good when chipping. Both balls held the greens really well with my vokey wedges. I have been playing the pro v1 for years, it might be time for a little more distance. Thanks again Titleist .
  11. Had the opportunity to try the new Pro V balls and really enjoyed them. The distance was great, feel around the green and putting as well. They will become my new regular golf balls when they hit the market!

Very much enjoyed getting to play/test these two proto type balls. For me the best option was the 388 (ProV1). It delivered the most distance with a mid-to-high ball flight off all clubs. Off the irons the feel was very soft and I was able to produce a fair amount of spin. I could work the ball right or left quite well. Chipping and pitching with the 388 was very nice. I could stop the ball quickly, for me with either loft or speed. The 388 feels and acts very similar to previous Pro V1 model except that it seems a few yards longer for me off all clubs. Over-all I love the ball.

The 348 (Pro V1x) also produced nice results but to me it feels a little harder and is a little shorter than the 388 off all clubs. I am a senior golfer with slower swing speed than younger players which might be why the 388 had more distance for me. For my game the 388 beat the 348 in all 4 measures listed: Feel, Distance, Spin and control.
  13. I’m a senior player and my distance isn’t what it used to be so playing a ball that maximizes what I’ve got left is important to me. Feel is vital too and both balls provided solid feedback on impact. The 388V ball flew a bit further, 5-10 yards with driver, fairway wood and hybrid and approximately 5 yards more carry with my irons. I noticed no real increase in distance with the Vx. The 348Vx did spin better and I could control trajectory better with my wedges. Both had great feel putting. I could play either comfortably but as someone who doesn’t hit as many greens in regulation as I used to, the increased control outweighs the distance gain.
  14. I love the distance from these balls. I am an older female (57) who just discovered golf about 3 years ago. My drives average 150 to 160. I had two drives between 185 and 195 the first day I tried both of these balls out. It was so much fun to watch the beautiful ball flights!! These balls might be the little extra edge I've been looking for. Sign me up for a dozen of them when they come out in full production!!
  15. Feel was really good, distance seemed longer and soft when it hit the green.

Oh my, Oh my!!! Had the opportunity to test out both balls and they were awesome. Used the red Vx1 on a chilly morning to start that heated up in the middle of the round. Then the ball performed as expected and actually had more distance than I thought for the fall weather in Massachusetts. Once the temperature got up to 60, I then saw the extra distance but more importantly, the approach shot spin. I was quite surprised at the spin back I was seeing.
Five days later I used the V1 and again pleasantly surprised with the added distance. In Massachusetts at this time of the year it’s basically all carry so seeing the second shot distances was quite pleasing. I did lose one because I didn’t commit to the approach and it’s I’m Davy Jones locker, but that was user error for sure.
Both balls were great to chip with around the green and felt great off the face. I can’t wait to use them with my new SM9s whenever I can get them back from KBS, but that’s a story for another day.
In the end, I can’t wait for this version of these balls to come out to the public. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tee these up.
  17. Congrats to all those fortunate enough to receive these to test. I am not one of those.
  18. Had the privilege of playing the new ProV1 at East Lake GC yesterday. Played the old ball and the new one and noticed that the new one flew a little farther without lose feel and control. Plan further testing…thanks TT!

I really appreciate the opportunity to test the prototype balls. I’ve played 4 rounds now with the 388 proto ball, and love it! Every aspect of this ball is solid. Only played one round so far with the 348 proto ball. Also, found it to be a very good ball with solid characteristics, but thus far I prefer the 388 over the 348. I’ll be ordering these new Pro V1’s when available.
  20. About 3 or 4 years ago I got a sleeve or two from Titleist. I likely didn't give good enough reviews to keep getting the samples. However, I pulled out one of the white boxes several months ago to try one of the sample balls again. I was playing Chrome Soft at the time. I hit the sample Titleist ball much further than the cally. And at my age, just turned 70, that is my biggest concern. Since I didn't know what ball it was that came from Titleist, (it seems that most of you know what ball your testing) I decided to cut it open to identify it. To my surprise it was a Titleist velocity. Or at least it looked like it from the pictures I found on line. I figured it would be an expensive ProV1, which would be my ball now had it been.

Needless to say I bought a dozen and have never looked back. That was about 5 months ago. I actually bought a dozen green from Titleist and a dozen orange last week from Golf Galaxy when they got them in. I've played them two rounds so far. Yep they are just like the white ones except everybody thinks I'm playing some other brand until I tell them they're new colors from Titleist. Can't quite get around the blue color yet. Maybe I'll give them a try when I finish these colors.

I really like the green. Before I actually saw them I wondered why anyone would use a green ball on a golf course. I've been a fan of yellow balls for years. But when I got them from Titleist I was impressed. They are easy for old eyes to follow, and easy to spot in the fairway. I even decided to pull out my old Vokey spin milled wedges for a while.
