The past two weeks I have been able to try the new balls and really liked the improvements. I currently play the ProV1 because of the lower launch and spin with the longer clubs.

388 (ProV1) replacement: I would continue to use this model when they come out. Performance was right there with the current ProV1, but I liked the fact that the cover felt a little harder/firmer. I also thought this ball preforms in the wind better.

348 (ProV1X) replacement: I thought this ball off the tee was longer and I also think it didn't fly as high off the tee which I liked. I have no issues with getting the ball in the air and felt like the spin on the short irons and wedges on full shots ballooned in the wind and spun more than I liked. I backed up too many short irons and wedges for my liking.

Overall I was really pleased with the 388's improvements and cannot wait when they are available in the market! I also liked some of the improvements on the 348, but the 388 is the better ball for me.

Thanks again Titleist for the opportunity to test these out and always enjoy testing things out.
  2. Never been one to play the X it is to hard and spins to much for me but other posts seem to say it is softer. I would love to give it a try.

I don't get what I am doing wrong. I do all the surveys, I keep my bag up to date. I do all of my fittings through Titleist reps only (Justin Bulcock in KC area). I join all the Zooms for TT (including recent TSR ones). I'm semi active on here. Yet I never get to do anything like the white box ball testing. What am I missing?
  4. Played the proto 348, the ball flight was higher than the current Pro V1X that I play. It also carried slightly farther as well. The feel felt the same off the club face. Spin was fine and feel felt the same with the putter as well. Played in temps that were mid 60s-70 F.

Played the 388 this weekend. I found that it had a very consistent ball flight, not to high but just right. The distance was solid and if you really went after it it responded in kind with the same flight and stopping characteristics you would expect with a Titleist ball. The ball felt great of the putter and I did notice more spin than usual when chipping. I found that I had to try and land the ball closer to the hole to account for the better spin and stopping action of the ball. This weekend it is the 348 ball, looking forward to some great results.
  6. Thanks so much for the opportunity to test the 2022 titleist prototype balls.
The ball has a very good soft feel coming off the club especially the driver.
I did not a little bit of extra distance with the new ball Vs the prior generation.
I also noticed what appeared to be less spin as the balls I hit with face slightly open seems to have a better result and we’re less offfline comparatively.
I didn’t notice a lot of difference in the spin but the greens we were playing were dried out slightly and very hard so difficult to judge, however I did have a 200 yard hybrid shot that landed softly on the green and checked up nicely.
Overall I really like the new b-ball’s and look forward to playing them in the future. Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in the testing.

Thanks again for the opportunity to be part of the testing team with the new ProV1 and ProV1x. I was able to put both the 388 and 348 through several tests and play a round with both. Overall great product from Titleist but we wouldn't expect any less.

The 348 - ProV1x has a great feel on every club, distances were pretty consistent across all clubs. I was able to see a bit more spin on the driver and longer irons in regards to being off line either left or right, nothing massive but it was noticeable. My only issue is the 348 spun a lot for me around the greens and with most wedges. I normally spin the ball quite a bit but it was a bit much with the 348 (fun to watch though). I did notice that the dimple pattern and size were a bit different than last years but it could be just me.

The 388 - ProV1, again great feel through all clubs and I really like the feel off the putter. It is very comparable to the current model, I didn't notice a whole lot of differences. The only thing I might offer up is the cover seems to wear faster, after about four holes there were noticeable marks from my wedges but I'd keep playing the ball for a bit longer as they are expensive and I don't think it effects my game as it would professionals. All distances were very similar, on the occasion when I would smash a driver and hit the sweet spot perfect the ball would launch!

Again Titleist thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the testing community, I love the fact that you let us amateur's get involved with this testing process.

  8. Found the protos to be slightly less soft than the pro vi and 1x but got at least 5 yards a shot in distance. Also found that they held the greens better.

  9. Always been a Titleist user from balatas since HS to the Professional and Tour Prestige…then the hype of the Pro V…found one back in the early 2000’s on Bethpage Black #14….teed it up on #15 and had the shortest club in ever after 100’s of rounds (8 iron). OK I’m sold! Been using Pro V1’s ever since. I play the 1 over the X…for me the 1 has a softer feel and higher flight and that seems to be true with the protos….the new models are a bit longer than previous models (thank goodness since I’m getting older!) Feel and control remains exceptional…the durability is great, too…can go 5 rounds with the same ball. Keep up the good work and thanks for the protos!
  10. looks like left dot testing!!!!!!
  11. Was super pumped to receive these protos. Currently play the prov1 and this model seemed perform similarly with improved spin and seemed to add some distance!

I found the 388 to be a little softer, particularly from about 60 yds and around the green. Both balls had a really good feel off the putter face. For me, the 384 seemed to fly a little further and I got more roll off the driver. Durability was good for me on both. Played a nine with each starting with the 384.

After hitting both test balls I found that I had gained about 10 yards with the 348 ball. Consistently hit the fairway with both balls, consistent spinn on the green Glad to have been able to test each ball.

I've been a V1X loyalist for 10+ years but, after playing both of these prototypes I might have to switch. The difference in feel, especially when putting and chipping, was very noticeable. I love the "buttery feel" of the V1 and my shots from 120yds and in stopped on a dime.

Thank you for this chance to try out these prototypes.

Love the slight improvement in distance and the way they performed around the green.

Also did not even scuff when I happened to launch one off the cart path .
All in all another fine Titleist product.

I am a ProV1x player so I put the 348 Proto in play first. I noticed that the ball flight was a fraction lower than the previous model. It still launched out of the window I am used to seeing but just a fraction lower (a la Left Dash). It is a little longer in distance but not much. I liked how the ball held its line better in off center hits and in the air in general.

The ball seemed to jump off the mid-low irons and gave me that high launch. I think it might be higher than the 2021 version to be honest. When the ball came down, the steeper decent angle made the ball stop that much faster. I did not notice any ball spinning out of control.

Around the green with pitch shots, chips and those awkward distances the ball performed stunningly well. It has a little more bite to it for me. That initial grab is harder but there is a nice soft roll out after.

Feels the same off the putter but the sound for me was a little more muted.

Having never tried the left dash ProV1x, I have a feeling the 2023 ProV1x is a blend of the Left Dash and the standard X. Could be wrong.

I have chipped and putted with the 388. Like the softer feel around the green. Spins more than I am used to but could get used to that. I want to see how the 388 comes off the driver and irons. I like the ProV1 a lot but it flights lower off the driver so it's a different window. I can hit ProV1 farther but it's sight or flight matter for me.

Still want more time with both but the 348 has pole position right now.
  17. Thank you Titleist for selecting me. Had a hard time deciding which ball was best for my game. Loved both but did provide Titleist with my results. Forgot to mention how durable the balls are. Played three rounds with each ball and they still look new.

  19. Hi:

Hoping something shows up in a plain white wrapper.

I was lucky to receive the 388 and 348 protos this year. I play both the AVX and the ProV1 in my normal play as I need all the distance I can get now that I am in my 70’s. I prefer the 388 and believe it is longer off my irons than the current AVX and ProV1. Both balls feel slightly softer to me than current models. The 348 played shorter for me than the 388. Same with current ProV1 and V1X. I actually scuffed the cover of the 348 slightly which really surprised me because all my irons have spun many balls. Suspect it was my Vokey wedge when evaluating full and partial shots to greens. I hope the cover is still as durable as previous versions for both new ball models. Only way I can recommend an improvement is to get them in yellow. My old eyes with floaters and cataracts prefer yellow over white.
